Consultants confirm project feasibility
A feasibility report produced by renewable energy consultants
Renewable Devices Ltd and funded by the
SCHRI, concluded that the Fintry turbine
has long-term financial feasibility.
The report predicts that there will be a positive cashflow of £50,000 in the first
year of operation, rising to £770,000 in the final year (year 20), and that the gross return over the
life of the turbine will be more than £8,000,000 - over 8 times what can be expected from the industry
standard community benefit payments.
The report was based on an investigation into the five key factors to feasibility -
- The capital cost of the installed wind turbine
- The debt to equity ratio negotiated with the bank
- The amount of funding available to the organisation
- The wind resource on the community wind turbine site
- The value of the electricity generated by the wind turbine
